"Portuguese wines are a good accompaniment to the cuisine with a large selection of reds and whites. Particularly famous are the fortified wines, Port, and the dessert wine Madeira.
Portuguese people are big coffee drinkers. There is always time to stop for a coffee and a chat and why not trying one of the lovely little cakes. Typical cakes are “Arroz Doce”, cinnamon flavoured rice pudding and “Pasteis de Nata”, caramel custard cake in a flan."
ANTIGA CONFEITARIA DE BELEM LISBOA
This cafe serves an average 10,000 Pasteis de Belem (custard tarts) a day (the record is a staggering 55,000), a specialty made with a secret centuries-old recipe. I feel these sweet treats are a major part in food culture throughout Lisbon, I have chosen to focus my short video on food and drink culture.
COLCCI CAFE LISBOA
One of Lisbon’s newest and most fashionable cafes is Colcci Café. It’s found up a flight of steps inside the Colcci shop which sells the Brazilian brand’s men’s and women’s wear known for its colorful and contemporary designs in jeans, sportswear, accessories, and footwear. Supermodel Gisele Bündchen has been the official face of the brand since 2005 and you’ll see her strutting down the runway on a plasma screen in the café showing the latest collections.
