Above shows my model for my final design. I crafted the structure from MDF wooden strips, sanding and cutting them to form the basic canopy frame, sealed together with strong cotton strips of fabric to give the frame flexibility, to form the curve shape and to fold down depending on the situation.
Hand sewing the tracing paper feathers I then stuck them to the joints of the frame to give the model a neater finish and to portray a more relaxing feel. The base needed to be formed from a light material so I thought blue foam would be perfect. Then I coated the foam with a white cotton and a glossy paper outing. The pictured model is set on a water surrounding which is appropriate for its purpose.
Overall I am pleased with the research building up to my final design, although the structure needed more complexity. Although this may have ruined the theme and atmosphere I wanted, so I am happy with Lucy's space, and hope she can see it being used for her Bibliotherapy scheme.
